The 2018 Blind Poster Exhibition revolved around the theme of “EGO.”
In society, we often encounter messages urging us to believe in ourselves above all else and to focus solely on our immediate emotions. However, I hold a different perspective on this matter. Through personal experiences, I have come to realize that the moments when I felt most certain about who I am turned out to be the greatest illusions. Regardless of how faithfully we adhere to our emotions or how confident we are in ourselves, true self-understanding remains elusive. Moreover, the decisions we make based on these beliefs can ultimately betray us during crucial moments.
To capture the sense of disparity and dilemma arising from these choices and outcomes, I sought inspiration from Rodin’s renowned sculpture, “The Kiss,” and incorporated elements from the Minesweeper game. I juxtaposed the pixelated depiction of the kiss with strategically placed mines, creating a visual representation of a failed situation. Notably, I intentionally left one last mine in the game, symbolizing the perpetual existence of traps and confusion. By merging these elements, my design aims to convey the message of the dilemmas we face when pursuing our preferred paths.
